Delete these two lines and the ini file will be ok: ***** on Windows 98/ME NoScan=C:\WINDOWS\Recent\ The program at startup reads the content of the ClamSentinel.ini file, so you must to edit it and save it with the same name. bye, aru |

Many thanks, I will let you know how I get on when I have downloaded and installed both ClamWin and ClamWin Sentinel.
I wanted to ask, will it scan every time I change or amend a file name for anything? such as an mp3. Guitarbob thought I should remove some file extensions from the ini file as he thought there were too many, do you think I should remove some too? By the way this is what the ini file looks like now below. ;If you edit this file manually you MUST restart (Stop-Start) Clam Sentinel to have the new settings ;========================================================================================================== ;The semicolons in the ini file just precede the instructions/comments. ;The configuration is done on the lines that don't have the semicolons. The extensions are of files that can have active content, or files that can be executed, but perhaps are more of the extensions that are dangerouse. The program detects all filesystem changes of files with the extensions traced, and also the rename of a file to an extension traced. The vxd trace the close finally of the files and the rename of the files. The scan is made every times that the file changes, except for a latency of 3 seconds because the systems can re-signalled more times one single modify. Noe the ini file is ok... now tell me what do you think about ClamSentinel. bye, aru |

I have released the new version 1.9. This version has a setup and asks some things when the program starts the first time, if you don't have already the clamsentinel.ini into the destination folder. So now is not needed to do anything into the clamsentinel.ini file for to have the correct configuration for each OS. Now all possible settings are available by the menu' Settings and Advanced Settings. bye, aru |

No, is the program that if is not find the file ClamSentinel.ini detects your operative system and generates the ini file with the correct settings, and also asks to you about some important settings (like which local HD do you want to monitor). If you have already the ClamSentinel.ini file with your settings rename it before install the new version of Clam Sentinel so you can to see what appened. bye, aru |

Hi,
No I haven't installed anything as yet as I am still using Avast, does that make a difference? I thought you had made it that it asks which system and if I click on 98 it would make the relevant ini file for 98 or whatever system you choose. |

The new Avast 5 version has been released some days ago. Within few months seems that updates for previous Avast version 4.8 will be dropped because the signature file between the new and the old version is changed a lot. So perhaps could be better to install ClamWin and ClamSentinel for begin to know the settings before that the Avast support for 4.8 version will be dropped. The only thing is to exclude Avast paths and files (C:\PROGRAM FILES\ALWIL SOFTWARE\AVAST4\ and C:\WINDOWS\TEMP\ASWUPDSUM.INI) from the ClamSentinel monitor, now there is an entry "Paths not scanned" for this into the Advanced Settings menu' on Clam Sentinel. bye, aru |

2 questions please
So there is now no need to do anything to the ini file for 98? Also which one should I download? Version 1.9 (EXE with installation) or Version 1.9 (ZIP without installation) |

Download Version 1.9 Exe with installation (the zip version is a choice for people that don't like setup and prefer to install manually the software). Yes, now is not need to do anything to the ini file for Win98. aru |
