Recently, when I run "clamwin --mode=update", it just deletes my "daily.cvd" and instead creates a folder called "daily.inc" and downloads a whole list of files into it.
It breaks up my "update other computers on the LAN if their daily.cvd is older than the server's" script (since there's no longer daily.cvd")!
My only solution is to manually delete that folder and then (when neither the "daily.cvd" file nor the "daily.inc" folder exist anymore) manually run the update again.

it's the incremental daily download, a new feature of clamav 0.90, use wget or something to download directly the daily.cvd

So from now on there's no more daily.cvd and instead the whole folder of daily.inc?

freshclam tries to download daily incremental db, before this it will unpack the current daily.inc in order to apply incremental changes,
if one incremental patch fails freshclam will re-download the full daily.cvd, so you can still use the full daily.cvd db.
At this point I'm thinking about making it optional

But what happens after it downloads the "daily.inc" folder? I see it just leaves it and uses it from then on instead of "daily.cvd". If it re-created "daily.cvd" using "daily.inc", then I wouldn't have a problem.

freshclam doesn't download the folder, it just unpacks daily.cvd if found then it will download cdiff patches and it will apply
to the unpacked folder

Daily.inc is where the "new" definitions are stored now, clamscan does not use daily.cvd. Hosting bandwidth does not come free, so they've broken down daily.cvd into the individual signature components so they can be updated as individual signatures are released.

But is there only a certain file or files inside that folder that get updated or should I just disribute the entire folder to my LAN?
If it's the latter, is there at least a constant file there that gets updated so I can match it against the same file in other computers (to know if they should be updated)?

Each file contains a different type of signature. You need the whole thing.

Ok, so is there at least a cerain file that is bound to be updated, and that would be the one to run comparisons on?

you are a bit complicating things, you can safely manually download daily.cvd and remove the daily.inc directory

I don't want to, because then I would have to download it even if it's not newer. I want to adapt to the new way and just know which file is updated for sure, so I can compare it to the same file in other computers in the LAN.

Well, v0.90.1 was released and it's still not optional. Where would it be chosen anyway?

it's not currently in original clamav, I should implement by myself, we are evaluating this possibility

It only happened to me once, but I happened to be downloading the daily.inc folder...only when it was done, a new daily.cvd was created and the daily.inc folder was deleted!
In other words, the program was smart enough to make the daily.inc only a temporary folder to be used strictly for the the purpose of re-creating daily.cvd!
This could solve everything! How do I make it do this everytime...?
