ClamWin can only detect a worm/malware if it has a signature for it. ClamWin uses the signatures/scan engine from Clam AV, which does not have as many signatures as most other AVs. The Clam AV engine can only remove/quarantine malware that it detects. It can not repair a computer if it has alrteady been infected.

UJpdate ClamWin and scan the entire computer with it after you configure the infected file option to quarantine. Then get Malwarebytes free, update it and do a quick scan with it. Then get Zemana free antimalware and do a scan with it. Those two AVs are very good at cleaning up after malware.

Let us know how it goes. After you are clean, if you do not have a real-time AV, get Microsoft Windows Defender (it is free) for Windows 8 or Windows 10 (it is called Security Essentials for older computers) and use ClamWin as a backup scanner. Keep Malwarebytes or Zemana for emergency cleaning. You should be well-protected then.

CCleaner isn't a anti-malware, it is just to clean out junk files, like temp files, caches, internet history, etc.

I don't find much use for tools like that any more. You can do most of the cleaning/etc. that you need to do via Windows. I would also stay away from malware removers/etc. unless they are a well-known AV/antimalware. Some of that stuff is malware itself, and others are not very good.

@Bob: Somewhat true, but I use BleachBit because it has more purpose then just cleaning files. It also has wipe features, like wiping free space to make files unrecoverable, and also shredding files on the go. I also help maintain Winapp2, which is a community made file that expands cleaning capabilities for BleachBit and other cleaners: https://github.com/MoscaDotTo/Winapp2/ Windows built in cleaner can't do any of this. Also, with BleachBit, it also cleans a lot of tracks on your computer that leaves fingerprints, which hackers/malware can use for quick access around your PC, so it makes your PC a little more safe and BleachBit itself leaves little to no fingerprints on your system, either.

But you are correct that usually cleaning out junk files is almost pointless these days due to not much speed gain and lots of people have 1tb+ drives now. I still do it because I like to keep my system clean and all.
