Hello all.
I have had trouble updating my ClamWin definition database, any version for over a month. I could not access the ClamAV pages, they appeared to no longer exist. Shocked

I was fed up with ClamWin and removed it from my system. Mad

I discovered through searching that I could not gain access to Microsoft pages or other virus database sites either, which led me to investigate. I discovered that my PC had contracted the conficker worm. Surprised

I reinstalled ClamWin and it worked beautifully, I can now update my ClamWin as before no problems at all. Smile

I know that not everyone who cannot update has this same problem, but I am willing to bet it will be many, it is worth investigating and or using the removal tool.

Hope this is of help to all frustrated people having trouble updating their ClamWin database. Very Happy

If ClamWin is your only antivirus, you might look into Clam Sentinel. Sentinel is a separate project that consists of a small, free program that lets you use ClamWin as a real-time scanner. Sentinel also has its own heuristic system monitor that can find viruses for which there is no ClamWin signature. You can get Clam Sentinel at https://sourceforge.net/projects/clamsentinel/ on the web. Be sure to read the Simple Guide before using/configuring Sentinel. You have to Enable the system monitor, and I would NOT include the system messages--they can be too confusing for some people. Sentinel is simple to operate--everything runs from the Windows system tray.

We need all the help we can get!
