| win32/Conficker.B in clamwin virus list? |

Clam has started listing the top 10 viruses encountered by users each day on its web site, but I don't know of a comprehensive list of all the viruses it detects. There are the main cvd and daily cld databases on your computer, but you would have to import them into a spreadsheet or something like that and search for a virus by name. Each AV company may also have its own name for a virus--there's no common naming convention, although many of them do share virus submissions--Clam uses the Symantec feed (among others).
Virus Bulletin has a spreadsheet on its web site that lists all of the viruses in its Wild List and the different names given to each virus by AV companies, but the Wild List is kind of old and doesn't include many virues--especially newer ones. Regards, |

Good info, thanks.
I can open the main.cld file with Wordpad and read/search it, and I can't find Downadup or Conficker.A or Conficker.B, etc. I did find another tool at Symantec to deal with this virus, and it is "FixDownadup.exe". It appears to be better than the prior Microsoft tool, and removes 4 entries from the Registry as well, and points you to the correct MS download site for the related security update. pob |
