Hi

I don't know if clamWin update it self in this way but i think this way may be faster.

Example 1

lets say that clamwin update it self by checking every new file in the sarver and that for sure will take time.

however if the new updates on the sarver has been checked by the date only it will be faster so clamwin will only see the date of the uptdates everyday and will only download if the uptodate time got change.

ClamWin checks it version to a version number published on the website.

Checking every separate file could lead to conflicts (e.g. when you have a new version of file x and an old version of file y). That is why Sherpya creates incremental update installers, which only contain the changed files between version x and version x-1. They are not automatically installed at this moment, but when you get a "ClamWin is out of date" notification and you click on it, you will be directed to the incremental updater in stead of the full download.

There might be plans to implement an automatic download/install function, but i'm not sure about that.

Unless you are using ClamWin in a "mission critical" environment, frequent updates aren't that important. The fact that Clamwin isn't yet a real-time scanner also makes updates less important. It's only important that you update before you scan. Efficient updates that minimize download time/server load are important.
