With latest ClamWin 0.90.2.1 I would like to perform an update locally on the LAN where my ClamWin clients reside.

My update server is a Debian Linux 4.0 (etch) running a recent freshclam daemon (ClamAV 0.90.1/3647/Thu Jul 12 09:13:27 2007).
Its default config download updates in cvd format.

Since ClamWin has switched to incremental updates daily.inc and main.inc directories this has been broken (used to work before).
What is the recommended way to solve this problem ?

yes, I read that FAQ but I would rather not resort to client side scripting to take care of the updates. I would like the Clamwin client to work with its standard update mechanism. I guess my bigger question is - what does the latest ClamWin client expect on the server side to perform a flawless update ?

you need the cvd fles and all cdiff files in the web server root directory. Then use the local web server address in the clamwing configuration for the database mirror

As it stands now the freshclam version I am running on my debian 4.0 server (see previous post for version) first downloads the two cvd files, main.cvd and daily.cvd. Over time it seems to have created a daily.inc and inside has several files, including daily.info ( an index file with a list of all the files in the dir and their checksums), daily.cfg, daily.db and more.

In that daily.inc directory I do not see any cdiff files (did you mean files with the 'cdiff' extension or files in cdiff format ? the files I see are not in cdiff format).

Looking in the clamav.net site I have found this but am not sure how accurate it is

and I should add that, yes, I am indeed making those files available in the DocumentRoot of a web server configured in the same host and that, yes, I am pointing to that same host in my Clamwin clients.

cdiff files are not in the daily.inc but on the clamav database mirrors, you need to mirror their site, using freschlam no longer works after introduction of cdiff files (incremental updates)

It might be good to make a FAQ out of this. I haven't seen this information before, and it might come up again.

Just updated the "Advanced" chapter in the manual.

Also (just for reference), clamav has a FAQ on this (https://www.clamav.net/support/faq/ https://www.clamav.net/support/faq/). Of course, this faq refers to the freshclam.config file, which is automatically generated by clamwin.
