If you have Windows XP, I suggest you go to C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\etc on your computer and look at the Hosts file there with Notebook. See if it says anything there about Clam/ClamWin. If it does, delete that line. Then do a complete scan with another antivirus to see if you can find what changed it.

Thank you for the advice. The host file only contains (several comment lines) and one single line referring to local host ("127.0.0.1 localhost").
Any other good suggestions? |

Sorry, I'm a a loss. Perhaps someone else will chime in with better info. Did you do some Googling for the problem or search other ClamWin forum posts?

Hello pallelouw,
Checked my Hosts file on my Vista machine and basically it reports the same as yours but my Clamwin updates are working correctly. Mine is just a guess but could it be something set in the proxy field that makes updates go null (mine is completely blank, except for port #3128 since I do go via proxy)? Since I am not very experienced about this I just suggest following : below are the settings of the updates in my Clamwin.conf file. [Updates] checkversion = 1 checkversionurl = https://clamwin.sourceforge.net/clamwinver.php warnoutofdate = 1 enable = 1 dbupdatelogfile = C:\ProgramData\.clamwin\log\ClamUpdateLog.txt dbmirror = database.clamav.net updateonlogon = 0 frequency = Daily weekday = 2 time = 23:40:00 Try to set your Clamwin as above (I guess you can do it also via GUI) and see if it works. Come back with results (if any), that shall be useful to all. Hope this helps, Antonio |

I don't have any special firewall running that I know of. I tried resetting my router to default settings. I am setup to use WEP 128K. I don't understand why it works on one PC and it does not on the other. I even turned off Windows Firewall. I've been running ClamWin on both PCs for over 6 months and now I get the error on one of my PCs.
If I do a nslookup I get C:\Documents and Settings\Dell130>nslookup database.clamav.net Server: Address: 192.168.2.1 Non-authoritative answer: Name: db.us.rr.clamav.net Addresses: 168.143.19.95, 207.57.106.31, 209.8.40.140, 65.120.238.2 Aliases: database.clamav.net, db.local.clamav.net If I do nslookup on the PC that works -- I get the same thing but the Addresses are in a different order. Any ideas of what I can look at? |
