is clamwin ever going to have the "cleaning" feature? BEcause i think thats one of the most important features. What if system files got infected?
I know Mcafee has a REALLY good cleaner and avast! just cleans out the virus by looking for an uninfected version of the file |

ClamWin is dependent upon the Clam AV engine, so there probably will not be a cleaning capability unless Clam develops it. It's really very hard to develop a cleaning capability for all the malware that's out there. The additional code required for cleaning increases the size/complexity of an antivirus program. Clam/ClamWin devote their attention to preventing/finding malware before it gets to the infection stage.
Your best bets for cleaning, in my opinion, are Dr. Web's free Cureit, and Microsoft's free Malicious Removal Tool (MRT in the System 32 directory). F-Secure's free Blacklight is pretty good with rootkits--it doesn't clean them, but it identifies them, renames them, and you can then manually delete the renamed file. Regards, |
