I use the internet update to download virus database and runs and says it is completed. I try to scan and it tells me I haven't downloaded the database. It will do this over and over. Thank you in advance for any help.

Not to worry. ClamWin is fine. Your signature database is updating okay. ClamWin uses the engine and database from ClamAV, which has recently had a minor update. Most likely the ClamWin developers will have their own update to ClamWin soon. ClamWin checks once a day for its own updates. You can manually check by right clicking on the icon in the system tray and select Check Latest Version.
Regards,

Something is wrong, because the scan icons are grey and do not function.

eltabor: What version of Windows are you running ?
I've seen this once during beta testing on Windows 98, but was not able to reproduce it.
Can you tell us which files and directories are in the database folder (have a look in the ClamWin Preferences > File Locations for the location of this folder).

I think you may have a old clamwin set of binaries, did you reboot after you done the upgrade?
I suggest to:
1) uninstall clamwin (go to start-control panel-add-remove programs, locate clamwin and click uninstall
2) reboot
3) open Windows Explorer, navigate to c:\program files and delete folder named clamwin
4) install again

After a complete re-install, it should be ok (it was at my station). You can check by downloading the EICAR test file from https://www.eicar.org/anti_virus_test_file.htm https://www.eicar.org/anti_virus_test_file.htm, but i wouldn't worry about it.
There seems to be a problem on Windows 98, I'll try some tests to reproduce it when i get to it.
