Do you update manually or automatically? I suggest you configure ClamWin for automatic hourly updates and check after 4 or 5 hours to see what is going on. I do this and don't worry too much about updates. After a while they seem to happen.
Let us know how it goes. Regards, |

Thank you very much. I turned on automatic updates and let it sit. It eventually downloaded the update just fine. The problem seems to be confined to manual updates.

Yes, sometimes manual updates work and sometimes they don't. They usually work, however.
I don't worry too much about the Clam Av signature updates. For one thing, they do not produce enough signatures to cover a wide range of malware--just the malware that will be found on the Linux email servers for which Clam Av is designed. At one time this was enough, but nowadays, the ClamWin developers recommend that ClamWin should be used as a backup scanner to a real-time AV for immediate detection of a wide range of malware. Microsoft's Windows Defender (Security Essentials for older computers) is becoming a pretty good AV, and it is free like ClamWin. Thanks for using ClamWin! Regards, |
