198 MB compressed to 71.3 MB

tested with Calm AV 0.97.6, may work on previous versions

containing
-bytecode.cld - (364,544 bytes)

-main.cld - (163,471,360 bytes)
-main.dat - (4,096 bytes)

Only reason for sharing this on my first post is that - when I had slow internet connection, I wanted compressed update but could not find,so now giving back to the community, and calmwin forum is the best place to start.

Please give your feedback.

Thanks for the information. Users, please be aware that some of these sites may require payment or may an option to download faster by paying, so ClamWin users should be aware of this if they are looking for a free download. You should also always verify the a web site address-URL by uploading it to Virus Total or use some other site/software that will scan sites/URLs for malware before you visit them.

It pays to be a bit paranoid sometimes!

Thanks and welcome to ClamWin!

This might be an idea for ClamWin in the future. I have 2 questions for this topic.

1. These only offer smaller downloads of signature databases and no other benefits correct?

2. What is the difference between the main.cld file and the main.dat file?

Once again, it would not let me post here for awhile. I don't think it was because of a long post, either.

The Clam AV signature cvd files are compressed, and the cld files are not. Cld seems to be the usual format. Some signatures can be in .dat files, which is an old format--essentially simple data files, but I don't think you see them much anymore.

Sound advice as always, Bob. The first URL, wtw.crocko.com (obfuscated to avoid accidental exposure), contains a malicious javascript as verified by Kaspersky and Microsoft. Although Kaspersky's is a Heuristic: Generic detection, Microsoft tends to have few false positives. See https://evuln.com/tools/malware-scanner/www.crocko.com/#pages. I didn't go any further on the list.

Hello Lipper. Your comments are always welcome. There was no overt detection on VT of that first URL when I scanned it, but there were a couple of engines that I respect that indicated it was not known--guess it was too early in the game.

Second question has been answered.

I used the easiest method to create multiple mirror on internet using https://www.embedupload.com/ .

If requested, then torrent download will be made available.
