You might try deleting the main, daily, and bytecode files in the ClamWin database folder. You can find the DB location from ClamWin's configuration option, the Reports tab. It sounds like your database file(s) is corrupted.

I'd love to do, what you advice, but it is not clear to me where the files reside.
ClamWin Preferences says: C:\Users\MyUsername\AppData\Roaming\.clamwin\db for the database. Ok, fine I go to C:\Users\MyUsername\ but I can't find a folder called AppData Maybe this is part of the problem? Not sure which files in which localtion I should delete. |

Are you on a Windows 98 computer? That location doesn't sound like the location for the ClamWin database on Windows XP, Vista, or Windows 7. Whatever the File Locations tab shows for the database is probably correct. If you can't find it, perhaps the folder is hidden. You can unhide folders by Start, Control Panel, Folder Options, View and then select Show Hidden Files and Folders (on my Vista).
If nothing works, I suggest you uninstall ClamWin and then reinstall it. Then see what the locations tab shows. Regards, |

Not sure what was wrong. I uninstalled it and reinstalled the latest version. Updates now were working fine.
Thanks for taking the time and helping me. ![]() |

Notice the ".clamwin" directory. Unless you have "show hidden and system files" set, in your file view preferences, you won't be able to see the directory. Unix and Windows share the convention that a directory started with a dot '.' is invisible to normal users. On my Vista Ultimate system I have ClamWin installed to be used by all users and this directory is therefore installed off of C:\ but you still can't see it unless you go to "File Explorer"->Tools->Folder Options->View and check the "Show hidden files and folders" radio button. Once you've done that go to ...\.clamwin\db and delete everything there. Downloading a new virus database will then run fine. |
