Just update like you have been doing. The normal files are cld extension . I believe cvd extension indicates an incremental update.

.cvd files are complete db files
.cld are "recreated" db files using inclemental files mirrors.dat handles status of mirrors (blacklist etc) when e.g. updates fail from a mirror |
