Hello Carlos,

For the update problem the only 'solution' (just tentative till the issue gets fixed) is to roll back to 0.94 (which proved to be working OK). Installer can be found on https://sourceforge.net/project/showfiles.php?group_id=105508&package_id=113616. You will have to uninstall the version you are running on your machine, install the 0.94 and restart the computer. As I said this is not a solution but a tentative fix (you will be using and older Clam scanning engine, although it will work as well) to avoid manual downloads of db updates.

Hope this helps,
Antonio

I see that the 0.94 isn't available on that link, is it available anywhere else? also has the problem been fixed re the update errors using the 0.95 program on windows 98 ?

Hello starbound,

The link is correct. SF site has been redesigned recently. Just following the link, open the clamwin item (under 'all file) and all the versions will show.

I take it it's the same version as this https://www.clamwin.com/content/view/18/46/

Why is the one here a different file size to the one on the ClamWin web site below

https://www.clamwin.com/content/view/18/46/

The version on ClamWin is 27.4 MB, but the one here https://sourceforge.net/projects/clamwin/files/
is only 4.3 MiB ?

One says clamwin-Legacy-nt4-0.95.2.exe, the other doesn't, what's the difference please?

Am I right that the smaller file which is the 4.28MB is the set up file?

Which should I choose, the smaller set up file or the larger file which is 27.4MB?

Hello,

clamwin project is hosted at Sourceforge. If you look at the project latest release the file as just the same as the one of Clamwin site. I guess for older versions size differs just because the software has been developed and has new functions/capabilities.

Please see my edit above.

One says set up, the other doesn't, I am confused?

Hello starbound,
Sorry I misunderstood. The smaller file should be correct. Could not take a look into it since server for download is unavailable right now.

Thanks, but I just wanted to know why there are 2 files?

Are you saying I should pick the smaller one?

Hello starbound,

If am not wrong the whole installer includes also a virus DB. The smaller file named clamwin-legacy-nt4-0.95.2.exe just contains the binaries for making Clamwin work.
You should recover virus db when you connect to the internet (or even download the main.cvd and daily.cvd directly from https://www.clamav.net/ and put it in relevant folder; in Vista path is C:\ProgramData\.clamwin\db; in win98 this may differ).

Regards,
Antonio

You can find many older versions of ClamWin at filehippo.com, including the 0.94.0.

Hope this helps.
