First of all thanks for a great product everyone who made clamwin.
My problem is that Clamwin is scanning and slowing my computer right down (>20% cpu) in the daytime. I have scheduled it to come on at night and it used to do this. Maybe it's the new version. Am I missing something obvious? Should it just start scanning when it wants to??
TIA

it should only start when scheduled. Sorry to ask the obvious, did you check am/pm in the scheduled time. Also it may still be scanning from the night start.

Mine is doing the same - ever since I downloaded the latest versions.
Scanning when it isn't supposed to and maxing the CPU out.

try to remove and re-create your schedules.

you need to check the scheduled scan am/pm settings and frequency
you can also check when the scan is scheduled for by looking at %temp%\clamwin1.log file first thing in the morning before you run clamwin. Running another instance of clamwin will overwrite that log

I checked the am/pm thing but it was in 24hr format as 0330. I have also recreated the schedules as suggested. I will report on whether this fixes it or not.
I looked at the log file and it says:
------------------------
System Locale: ('en_GB', 'cp1252')
Default Encoding: cp1252
command line path:
------------------------
So not too sure what to make of that.
Thanks

In the Task Manager it says clamscan.exe has CPU time 7:22:23.
It's CPU usage is at about 90%.
It was scheduled to come on at 0130, it's now 1150.
The Virus Scan Report says "Scanning aborted..." and "----------- SCAN SUMMARY -----------" quite often.

Looking at the "Incredibly slow scans" topic and it seems it may just be a really slow scan and that I need to filter out some file types or something.

Cleared the schedules and re-added. Fixed the scanning when it isn't supposed to problem.
But - It is still maxing out my processor.

If you disable any resident virus scanners you have on your machine when running Clamwin, it will speed things up. As ClamWin opens files, the resident scan(ners) also open/scan them, so you do twice the work.
