Trouble with 2k Server...

At work, we are waiting for approval for an anti-virus solution for our Win 2k Server (file & DNS...). I use ClamAV on my laptop (PowerBook w/ OS X 3...) and am quite happy with it. So, I decided to install ClamAV on the Server in the mean time. If it works, I can sell it to the powers that be pretty easily. Unfortunately, there is a problem.

I currently have it installed on our SQL and DNS Servers. The SQL Server has not experienced any trouble so far (knock on wood...), but the DNS Server started to drop connections to the Server/Network sporadically. I turned off the System Tray and I have not experienced any trouble as of yet (or at least no one has reported anything...).

Has anyone else come across this problem before. If so, have you had any joy solving it???

Any help would be greatly appreciated...

not sure what is wrong here... Clamwin uses DNS queries to determine if there is an updated virus database. But it's just a client query and should never break a DNS server. I have it running on Win 2000 Server with DNS with no problems.

Is there a software application firewall installed, it may be blocking the DNS connections.

No software firewall on the server. There have been no complaints as of late either. The only thing that I did was to exit the ClamWin System Tray in the taskbar. Does that run a process in the background that might be causing tension???

it runs scheduled virus databse updates that is the only thing which may have a relation to dns. Try starting clamtray.exe again (just run it for c:\program files\clamwin\bin\) and disabling virus database updates.
