Portable ClamWin crashes

Hi there, I have just installed ClamWinPortable 0.88.5 as part of the PortableApps Suite on a USB 80GB portable hard drive. During installation I received the "You have not yet downloaded Virus Definitions Database". I updated the database. I can select and scan files using the Scan Selected Files button but if I select a folder or a drive letter and use the Scan Selected Files button ClamWin crashes with the "ClamWin Anitvirus has encoutered a problem and needs to close.." error. This doesn't happen if I click the Scan Computer Memory button but I don't want it to scan my entire computer just the portable drive.

I have downloaded just the ClamWin file from PortableApps and installed it independently but the same thing happens.

Upon completion of the database update the ClamWin window contains the following info:

ClamAV update process started at Fri Dec 01 14:43:28 2006
main.cvd updated (version: 41, sigs: 73809, f-level: 10, builder: tkojm)
WARNING: Your ClamAV installation is OUTDATED!
WARNING: Current functionality level = 9, recommended = 10
DON'T PANIC! Read https://www.clamwin.com/content/view/10/27/
daily.cvd updated (version: 2265, sigs: 5658, f-level: 9, builder: ccordes)
Database updated (79467 signatures) from database.clamav.net (IP: 206.154.202.13)

--------------------------------------
Completed
--------------------------------------

I wasn't sure if the DON'T PANIC text was anything at all to do with the crashes so I followed the link which leads to a newer version of ClamWin - 0.88.6. However this is not a portable verison of the application but there are instructions to create my own portable version from an install on my host PC. I have installed it on my host PC. I decided to try it there first before I copied everything over to my portable drive but I have the same problems as before.

Please help

Please note that clamwin portable is maintained by different team (unaffiliated with clamwin.com). I am guessing that Portable Clamwin will be updated shortly to the latest version - 0.88.6

scanning the computer memory, only does the computer memory. not the entire computer's hard drive (drive c.)

normal clamwin creates a dump file and a log when it crashes. You could look in the subdirectories where you installed clamwin portable and post those here.

it is a separate program, however; the log structure etc. should remain the same, as their built off of the same engine in a way, as far as I can guess.

alch: I apologise that I have approached you in error but portableapps.com offers no email support for its products. There are only the usual support topics, FAQs and links to forums, which brought me here. If you can suggestions who I could contact I would appreciate it.

justkyle: I have checked the install folder for ClamWinPortable. I don't know what a dump file is but I assume it's some kind of text file the same as a log file is. I can find no text file that suggests crash information. There is a log folder containing the following files:

ClamScanLog.txt, which contains the results of the successful scans I did when checking different selections to determine what triggered a crash.

ClamUpdateLog.txt, which contains the same info I posted before.

log_readme.txt, which contains only "antivirus db files go here".

The only other text files in the installation folder contain either the same or similar info eg: "quarantine files will go here".

Thanks heaps for your replies guys.
