Hi there, I have just installed ClamWinPortable 0.88.5 as part of the PortableApps Suite on a USB 80GB portable hard drive. During installation I received the "You have not yet downloaded Virus Definitions Database". I updated the database. I can select and scan files using the Scan Selected Files button but if I select a folder or a drive letter and use the Scan Selected Files button ClamWin crashes with the "ClamWin Anitvirus has encoutered a problem and needs to close.." error. This doesn't happen if I click the Scan Computer Memory button but I don't want it to scan my entire computer just the portable drive.

scanning the computer memory, only does the computer memory. not the entire computer's hard drive (drive c.)

I have downloaded just the ClamWin file from PortableApps and installed it independently but the same thing happens.
Upon completion of the database update the ClamWin window contains the following info:

I wasn't sure if the DON'T PANIC text was anything at all to do with the crashes so I followed the link which leads to a newer version of ClamWin - 0.88.6. However this is not a portable verison of the application but there are instructions to create my own portable version from an install on my host PC. I have installed it on my host PC. I decided to try it there first before I copied everything over to my portable drive but I have the same problems as before.
Please help |
normal clamwin creates a dump file and a log when it crashes. You could look in the subdirectories where you installed clamwin portable and post those here.
it is a separate program, however; the log structure etc. should remain the same, as their built off of the same engine in a way, as far as I can guess.
