Hey all! I've been using ClamWin with MailEnable for a while, but wanted to know if anyone has been able to improve the performance of the scanner. Each time it runs, it unpacks the signatures into a temp directory, scans the one email, then deletes the temp dir. (use the --debug switch on clamscan.exe to see) What a waste, given that I only download updates daily!
When my mail server receives 1.2 msgs/sec sec peak during the day, any lagtime kills performance.
Anyone know how to unpack 'em once and force ClamScan to use the unpacked version over and over again?

I didn“t know about that, but it seems it would be better if it unpacked it on clamwin folder and save the 'version' of the database so that it will only do it again when the virus database is newer than the unpacked one. Maybe this post is better at 'Feature Requests'?

just wait for the next release which will have a scanning service that has database loaded at all times, or use clamd from cygwin distribution
