i think a very important feature would be to be able to specify the folder containing the updates.
i don't think so that every webmaster wants to keep clamwin updates (or symbolic links to them) in his/her docroot. |

I've setted up my clients to automatically check for updates from my local server periodically. but (probably coz on the official mirrors a newer version is available), when trying to update, it shows:
what do i do to disable this? |

Keep your mirrors synchronised. There isn't an option to disable this behaviour, and in my opiniion there shouldn't be one. |

You can use freschlam.exe to synchronise the database files with the mirrors, it will only download if there is an update. Your other request will not be implemented at least until V1 is released. |

Not sure if this was the best way to solve the problem, but it seems to work...
I have created a communal db folder as a shared folder on the server. This folder contains both the main and daily cvd files. On each of the clients I have pointed the virus database folder to this network share in the ClamWin.conf file. The automatic internet update is disabled and a script on the server downloads the latest cvd files from our closest mirror overnight. I'm now working on a version of the portable ClamWin that will work from the server for guests logging on to our network. If ClamWin is not detected by the login script it will run a self-contained version from the server. This ensures that any user on the network has a valid AV solution in place. This seems to work ok so far, but I am open to any suggestions |

what if my local server has a clamwin antivirus installed? and i've shared the db folder to everyone, and from my network clients, i've change the the file locations for virus defintions to that shared folder from my local server, and i disabled also the automatic updates. will this work? will my clients will be able to have the updated virus definitions? is a read permission for that db folder will do? or do i have to make it a full access to everyone?

i've tried to check the internet updates in one of my clients to make sure if my clients respond to the updates made by my local server(\\dc2\db). here is the report...

Speaking of "freshclam.conf". There is no such file in anywhere on my system. Is this a simple case of the code in freshclam.exe not keeping up with the reality of the configuration moving to clamWin.conf?
And on a similar tact; is there a way to specify multiple mirrors for the db? On more than one occasion, the db server that I have been using goes "away". In fact, we haven't been getting updates for about a week. The old db server is still there, but I guess it is often "away" so to speak when we do the db updates. It would be nice to list more than one db server; perhaps comma or space delimited? bp |
