We don't usually try to give advice to users of other AV software. We believe that you should contact the AV company since you use it. They often have forums just like ClamWin.
If ClamWin had more users, it would not be struggling today, and it would probably be a competitor to McAfee and the other AVs. However... Identify the McAfee executables in use by Task Manager. End the task(s)--there may be several. Once you have done that, you can probably uninstall McAfee via the Windows uninstall program, Control Panel, All Control Panel Items, Programs and Features, right click to uninstall. Failing all this, see if you can get into Windows Safe Mode and then uninstall it. If you want a good real-time AV, use Microsoft Windows Defender (Security Essentials on older computers). I also like Fortinet's Forticlient--it is simple, free, and very good. Regards, |

What you can do is, try removing the software from the add/remove installed programs. This will help. Otherwise, you can force stop the software and uninstall the same. And one last option is to format the entire disk where the AV software is installed.
