Hello
I have the same problem I think that clamwin will be updated. I use clamwin + clamsentinel for a second opinion or for detect files that other antivirus didn't detect or ship. i like ClamWin. Remember that ClamWin is 100% dependent upon Clam AV--for the scan engine, signatures, and updates.
It appears that Clam AV still has the update problem, but I think they are getting some updates out to us. There has been no more information from Clam AV about their update problem--see https://blog.clamav.net/ on the web. I don't know why it is taking so long to fix things, but remember that Clam Av is owned by Cisco, they do not get any revenue from Clam AV, and Cisco people do not work on Clam AV except in their spare time. I'm just sitting tight until Clam AV publishes some more information. Set ClamWin for automatic updates (hiourly)--that's about all we can do. It's good that you use ClamWin as a second opinion scanner--let your primary AV update often so you will be protected. By the way, Clam Sentinel provides very little protection now, and it does not seem to run on Current versions of Windows 10, I have uninstalled it on my computer--and I helped to develop the original Clam Sentinel heuristics back in 2012. There has been no development since 2014 when Andrea Russo abandoned it. Regards, |

There has been no word from Clam Av about their signature update problem, but I see they have updated approximately 1,000 signatures today--this is normal, so the problem appears to have been fixed, but they have not followed up their original announcement to tell us so.
1,000 signatures per day is about average for Clam AV, but that is not enough signatures to provide adequate protection for Windows users. That's why you need to use a real-time AV as your primary scanner, and use ClamWin for a second opinion, on-demand scanner. Regards, |
