I have noticed for some time now that ClamWin seems to download the new signatures from Clam AV shortly after I boot up in the mornings (on Win 8.1 or Win 10)--even though I do not have preferences set to update virus upon logon. I suppose this is from the last Clam AV version source code. Anyone else notice this? It makes the ClamWin update preference useless now.
Regards,

I believe if ClamAV/ClamWin misses a scheduled date for, let's say, if you have it set for every 8 hours and it happens to check for updates at 3AM and your PC is not on, it will then install the updates upon boot up.

Hi Guys!
In Linux, ClamAV always updates on boot. In Win 7, I'll have to enable auto updates and watch it a day or two.

You may both be right. With Internet Updates set to daily at 22:05 and Logon Update disabled, I signed out of Win 7 before 22:05 on 2/14. I just signed in again tonight at about 20:00 EST, and my last update was still from 2/14. Within a few minutes, a pop-up from the systray said that the virus database had been updated.

Since version .99.1, I notice the unscheduled updates when I sign on in the mornings. After that, my configured hourly updates seem to rule. Evidently the Clam AV developer(s) inserted a signature update chron job upon bootup in the code. I think it's a nice feature.
