You will only get a email report if a virus was found. How old is that log report? Did you have this setting checked when that virus was found?

That report is from yesterday, I'm assuming it will send an email every time a virus is found reported(not just the first time or not just when a new one is found)? Because I was testing I never removed the virus so I'm expecting to get a virus found email until I either remove that file or exclude it. I set this up a few days ago and originally I had the wrong SMTP login info so I didn't receive it, but now that is all correct and I receive the test emails no problem I think I should see the report. Is there any kind of diagnostics or debug that I can enable to see what's going on and where the error is?

Unfortunately, no. I don't think anyone has used the email notifier in a long time, so it doesn't surprise me that it doesn't work. I will let Alch (led developer) know about this issue and see if he can apply a fix for next release.

This should be easy for a developer to fix. If the testmail is received okay, then the virus detection code needs to be changed so that upon detection the code goes to the email routine in addition to the log routine and the quarantine routine. Evidently the old code doesn't work any more.

So I've been patiently waiting for a fix, haven't changed anything and suddenly it started working and sending me the report as expected. I haven't touched or changed anything so I'm not sure what would cause this. I did restart the computer for a windows update, and I think stayed logged in when I left it. Does being logged in have any effect on this? I use RDP all of the time and I think I was logged in before but I'm not sure (I know while it's been working here I was for sure logged in).
Thanks |

Don't know about being logged in, but I know there are some things that require admin rights--like scanning system files in memory. So it could be. Log off and see what happens.
On the other hand, I have been killed a few times in various programs by Windows updates and then subsequently fixed by a later update. I was unable to download files from the web via IE for a month or so after a Win update, and then by the next update, it was fixed. Regards, |
