Scanning Suggestion

I have filtered ClamWin to scan only certain file extensions (54 now) that I consider most likely to harbor viruses in order to minimize scan time on my entire hard drive while still retaining a good probability of finding any viruses. When you right click on a single file to scan it manually, however, only files with those extensions are scanned.

You might consider bypassing the scan filters during the right click scans so that all file types are considered. You are only looking at one file, and the time involved for a complete scan of all file types for the virus database isn't as significant as it would be when scanning an entire hard drive.

some people might highlight the whole drive and scan it. I guess the solution needs to be more intelligent, let's say if there is no folder in the selection then ignore filters?

Ignoring the filters in the absence of a folder selection would be the best way to go then. I guess you always have to protect us users from ourselves, eh? Thanks!

Thanks for the enhancement. This feature will come in handy when ClamWin eventually attains on-access status. Small changes over time can result in increased functionality without major effort.

Too bad you'll have to scrap everything. I thought all you would have to do would be to replace the user selecting a file after a download and then right clicking on Explorer (no screen action unless a virus is found). Maybe that will get you by for a while.

I realize that things can get complicated if you have to deal with more than that, however.
