Following the recent release of Opera9, https://my.opera.com/community/forums/topic.dml?id=146689 says:

Does Opera seem to be slow?

Check your antivirus program and disable real-time scanning of Opera.

You should also check your firewall software (ZoneAlarm, Norton Internet Security, etc.), and make sure that Opera is allowed full access to the network.

OK... I see https://forums.clamwin.com/viewtopic.php?t=10 https://forums.clamwin.com/viewtopic.php?t=10 says that ClamWin does NOT include an on-access real-time scanner... I knew that Wink

But... I'm wondering if anyone else here is noticing a serious slowing-down since switching to Opera9 - and if so, have you found a fix

I've been using ClamWin and Opera for years now... and this is the slowest my machine has ever run (but only when Opera is open)

cheers

you will notice no difference when clamwin is not scanning (I mean manual scan), since it doesn't includes yet a real time scan
there are no slowdowns, the clamwin tray app doesn't use cpu itself.

Try uninstaling clamwin and see if the PC gets faster. I doubt it would be the case

Thanks for the ideas

I might try uninstalling ClamWin - but maybe I won't... I've been using Firefox more and more and, now that I've loaded some nifty extensions, it does pretty much everything I need in a browser

One day/week soon, I'll be formatting my drive anyhow... and I'll load fresh installs of everything
