How about a Quick Scan option for ClamWin? As I see it, a memory and %appdata% (documents/settings for older PCs) scan for extensions .bat, .cmd, .com, .dll, .exe, .htm/.html, .inf, .js, .ocx, .swf, and .tmp would have a pretty good chance of detecting the majority of malware likely to be dropped on a PC. You could include the system 32 folder and extensions .sys/.drv, but it would take more time, and a general scanner like ClamWin isn't likely to find any rootkits there anyway.
