Is there an API or something which I can use to get the version , daily virus definition and date much like that shown in the about screen?

The tools supported by ClamWin are in the lib folder. There is no API. The library comes from the open source Clam AV project, which furnishes its scan engine and virus signatures to the ClamWin project. ClamWin ports the Clam AV Linux source code over to Windows.

So I tried to add reference to my VS2010 but can't. Is there any other way to add/access the information using the dll?

Again, I just would like the Date, the definition rev etc... so I can program via an API to my e-mail footer

Thanks

Sorry, I don't know of any way, maybe in the ClamWin source code you can see how they get the About informaion. Since the scanner and updates come from Clam AV, you might also try the Clam AV forums and/or other information about Clam AV to see if you can find something to help. You might start at https://www.clamav.net/lang/en/ml/ on the web.

Ok... I'm confused. There are no forums to ask this question from the Clam AV. However, whatever I've read on that site states that this was compiled on VS 2010.
Saying all of that, are you saying there is no maintenance done here which can help me find what in my mind should be a simple thing???

Yes, pretty sure. ClamWin is mostly designed for a stand-alone PC in a simple environment. It has been picked up by networks/advanced users because it is free and is a decent on-demand scanner. Since it is ported over from Clam AV on Linux where it is used primarily on mail servers, you might find some help in Clam AV forums. They are not that active now, but you should be able to find some threads on the web. There is a Clam AV mailing list (recipients get notices when Clam (and ClamWin by default) is updated) that might give you some help. You can also search the web for some more help--FAQs, comments, etc. And, as I said, the ClamWin source code might also help. Good luck.

ok... figured it out and thought I'd post here in case someone else wants to know.
You just need to issue C:\Progra~1\ClamWin\bin\freshclam.exe -V and direct to a file. The one line of information displays exactly what I'm looking for...

i.e. ClamAV 0.97.6/15576/Wed Nov 14 17:50:19 2012
