It probably means there were some files in the folder that could not be scanned--ClamWin couldn't handle them. The next version (.97.6) is supposed to fix the problem on at least some files.

By the way, you do not have to scan all files--only those with extensions that are most likely to be used by viruses. Do a Google search for "dangerous file extensions." Make sure to include these common extensions: .class, .dll, .exe, .htm, .js, .scr, .swf, .sys, .tmp, and .zip. Many lists are only concerned with extensions found in email attachments and might exclude some of them. ClamWin will scan all files that you select via right-clicking with your mouse, regardless of the extension.

Surprised My thanks to GuitarBob who sent me the correct web address to download ClamWin Antivirus. (I had gone in under www.clamwin.com before and could not get it downloaded successfully. I downloaded it last night and ran a scan this morning. I have an old system (Windows 9Cool and still had a 2005 Norton on it, however, when I ran the scan this morning the report said I have 32 infected files. (Some Trojans) Norton always asked me what I wanted to do with the infected files ... ClamWin only asked me if I wanted to save the report. How do I get rid of all of these infected files? Thank you for your help .... Judy

Hello Judy:

If you are sure those files are infected (scan with another AV or submit to the Jotti or Virus Total online scanners), change the ClamWin infected files option (Configure ClamWin, General Tab, Infected Files optiojn) from the default Report Only to Quarantine and rescan the folder(s) where they are located. They will be placed in quarantine then. There are 3 infected files options, Report, Quarantine, Remove. Never use Remove because if the file is a false positive detection (not a real virus), you cannot restore it from quarantine with the ClamWin Quarantine Browser Utility (All Programs, ClamWin, Quarantine Browser).

Thanks for using ClamWin!
