Howdy
I am using the current version 0.97.5 portable and it does not list mp3 files
that have tags while scanning-is this normal? If they dont have tags it shows
the progress of each mp3 scanned-I scanned a folder with 124 files and the
report said scanned 120 files with 4 errors.
Thank You
Rod

That's the first time I've heard of this. Perhaps tagging puts the MP3 files into some sort of container--like email, and that's why they are not listed. Is it the first time you've noticed this?
A virus can be almost anywhere--given enough time, talent, and motivation, but I haven't seen any in MP3 files in a long time now. They are most often in the PE executable files (.exe, .dll, .sys, .tmp, .ocx), .js, .zip, .eml, and .class (Java). Lately I've been seeing a few in .com files.

Hi Bob
I noticed it before just was curious-I scanned the files with MBAM
and no problems just wondering why you dont see the progress
with the tagged files-I usually remove the tags-I removed them
and clamwin will show the progress so I am not worried.Just the
way it goes I guess.I am using the portable version so maybe that
makes a difference-I could go to the portable apps forum but they
are kind of strange and not very nice sometimes!I have no virus
as I uploaded a couple of them and scanned OK.
Thanks
Rod

Hello Rod:
Try a scan with ClamWin, if possible, and if the problem continues, let us know. I understand that some scan errors will be fixed with the next version of Clam AV. I have no idea when the new version will be released. Thanks for using ClamWin!

Thanks
Just one more question:
in the scan results what do the 4 errors mean? I see that sometimes on scanning
other files-I understand some files are in use but on the mp3 and wav files why
does it say errors? I know I have a couple of mp3 with bad headers ,just curious
on what the report means "errors" in general.
Thanks Bob
Rod

The Clam AV people told me there are errors when scanning some files that will be fixed with the next version. Clam has just released their new version .97.6, which should contain the fix. ClamWin will release their version .97.6 port in a couple of weeks.
