Donating money without using PayPal

Hello!

Since many people have had their money stolen from the PayPal company, I wonder if it's some other alternative that I can use if I want to donate money to the ClamWin project. By understandable reasons, I don't want to accept terms and make agreements with companies that doesn't seem to be so serious.

One idea may be to accept donations from VISA and MasterCard. That shouldn't be impossible?

I think that would be very great since a lot of people don't have / don't want to sign up with PayPal.

I think it's very boring that I can't donate to ClamWin in the current situation, only because I can't find any other payment method than using PayPal.

sorry for thelate reply, missed that post.

Currently the only way to donate money is Paypal, as non of us has the merchant account to process credit cards directly.

I have noticed you are quite active on the forums with plenty of useful posts, this is a much welcome donation of time Smile. Thank you.

Ok. I hope it will be possible in the future. The fact that if I would put, lets say $1000 in my PayPal-account, the PayPal company seem to have legal rights to throw me out and keep my money. Tada! Now I have lost $1000 because PayPal wanted my money.

This seems to have actually happened multiple times that PayPal have done this. That is, throwing out members without a good reason - keeping the members money. They should atleast give you back the money you have in your PayPal-account.

The temporary solution to this would probably be to donate small sums lets say every month, raither than donating a larger sum once a year. In this way the PayPal company can only take one of your small sums, and you don't risk losing so much money.

I first read about this in a Swedish newspaper, and Google also gave me some sites claiming the same thing. Also the company Flashback Enterprises Ltd refuses to accept donations via PayPal because of this.

If this all thing is some kind of way for competitors to give PayPal a bad reputation, or if it's all true, I can't answer. However, I would still prefer to use a real bank instead of a "regular" company.
