Conflict with Windows Security Essentials and Avira realtime scanner when scanning Thunderbird portable folders.

Both pop up and report 2 Virus and want to delete the files.

Avira realtime scanner I can disable temporarily, but MS SEcurity essentials has not option to diasbale temporarily.

So it is disturbing and very unhandy.

Regularyy I have running at same time in background the Avira Shild as well as the Security essentials as well as Tea Timer and let check these theree the comp daily. May sound neurotic, but I often notified that each of them detects probles the other ignore or not found, so it is worth to habe these combinated, if the PC resources allow it.

But running ClamWin in addition is unhandy (and delete all and run Clam exclusive is too little trustworthy. No program is perfect.

I think that you are using too many AVs. One real-time AV should really be enough for good security, but Clamwin can provide some extra protection, and it does not scan in real-time. I would use Security Essentials as the only real-time AV and manually update it a few times each day, because it is not updated often enough to suit me by the automatic updates from Microsoft.

You can use 2 AVs together much better if you exclude each AV's program folder, data folder, and quarantine folder (if it is not in the data folder) from the other AV's scans. You should also exclude each AV's temp files from the other AV. I exclude ClamWin's temp files as clamav-* in the Security Essentials Settings, Excluded Files And Locations. I do not know the Security Essentials temp files name/location to exclude from ClamWin, but ClamWin does not scan in real-time, so it does not matter.
