clamwin tells me this is on my D: drive. autorun.inf Worm.Autorun-2191 I cant seem to delete it
here is my feeble attempt to remove it via command prompt.

D:\>del autorun.inf Worm.Autorun-2191
Could Not Find D:\autorun.inf

D:\>del autorun.inf:Worm.Autorun-2191
The filename, directory name, or volume label syntax is incorrect.

D:\>attrib -r -s -h autorun.inf
Access denied - D:\autorun.inf

how can I get rid of this horrible file?

I hope you are using ClamWin as a backup AV and not your only AV. Most people need to use a real-time AV as their primary AV because there is so much crap you can get infected by on the web, and you need to stop it before you get it.

You could try to get into Windows Safe Mode. Update ClamWin and then hit F-8 every second or so upon booting up until a menu comes up. Select normal Safe Mode, and when the Safe Mode screen appears, try to delete the autorun file and then do a scan of your C drive and the USB.

If nothing is found or the autorun still appears, download Dr. Web's Cureit and do a quick scan with it. If that doesn't work, download Microsoft Security Essentials and use it. Configure it to scan USB, and do a complete scan with it. Security Essentials will work on computers with XP and newer operating systems with genuine versions of Windows.

Try starting in safe mode, then use system restore to put your OS back a couple weeks, or before you first remember seeing the problem. Then update your anti virus, and update windows.

I've had to go into the registry editor and rip these motherfritos out of the comp by the short and curlies before, but that can get tricky if you don't know exactly what you're looking for.

Here is some specific information on removing autorun worms. Go to https://antivirus.about.com/od/virusdescriptions/ht/autorunworms.htm on the web.

I hope something we have said helps. If all else fails, run one of the free rescue CDs (Linux boot CD). I like Bitdefender's and F-Secures.

Well, first of all, please make sure that you use a main Antivirus like Kaspersky or Bitdefender in addition to Clamwin since you are using Windows OS. Secondly, autorun.inf virus cannot be deleted with the help of Clam Win alone. It could only backup and contain the file from creating further problems. Its always good to use emergency data recovery softwares, to fight the unexpected happenings, there are many companies like https://www.datanumen.com/aer datanumen, data recovery etc

Many AVs will have trouble removing autorun viruses once they infect. Check out my removal link above.
