Hi all,

I initially installed ClamWin back in August 2005 to use as the AV scanner for the mail server I run. I had some problems with it (not clamwin, mail filtering software) so used another AV software. I uninstalled ClamWin when I decided not to use it. Clamwin was installed in D:\Program files\.....

I thought I'd give ClamWin another go so installed 0.88.4 last night and again this morning. I chose to make it available to all user instead of the install account (admin priviledges) I use. It installed ok and updated as expected. I installed it in C:\Program Files\...

When I log in as the user account (only have one user account) and try to update the database I get this error.

Could not start process:
"d:\Program Files\ClamWin\bin\freshclam.exe" --stdout --datadir="d:/Documents and Settings/All Users/.clamwin/db" --config-file="c:/docume~1/family/locals~1/temp/tmphpqgv9" --log="c:/docume~1/family/locals~1/temp/tmph2a-qp"
Error: Could not start process.
d:\Program Files\ClamWin\bin\freshclam.exe
File does not exist.

I've uninstalled ClamWin, deleted the folders in both Program Files areas. Deleted the .clamwin folder in All users Doc and Settings and removed any reference to clamwin in the registry. Rebooted the PC then re-installed Clamwin and get the same error.

Can anyone tell me whereClamwin is getting the reference to D:\Program Files or how to get round this problem.

Many Thanks

B

you probably have an old config file from the previous installation.
to correct open clamwin, then go to "preferences" menu, select "file locations" tab and change D:\ to C:\ in the appropriate file path fields.

Feel like a real dolt after reading you post. Embarassed

Really should have looked harder before posting.

Sorry for wasting your time.

As an alternative, you can delete the ".clamwin" folder in your "Application Data" or "AppData\Roaming" directory (in your User profile folder).

I find it odd that ClamWin stores this as a per-user setting. Shouldn't this have the same value across the system?
