clamsentinel is not made by me but by Andrea Russo, he reported me some time ago a problem with my updater when clamsentinel is active
but I had no much time to deal with the problem

if you get problems updating to latest version, try the full setup

I have installed the mini update and am pleased to say that the database update procedure works perfectly with the original libclamav.dll. However I am not using Clam Setinal.

Clam Sentinel was off when I updated. I will upload the full setup next night (I'm on dial-up ).

I also had a corrupted download the first time, maybe it was the source of my problems.

I'll tell you the outcome tomorrow, if you don't mind. What Fred says goes for me too, thanks for all the efforts.

P.S.- Downloaded the full setup clamwin-0.96.2.1-setup.exe, had it checked for viruses (we never know), uninstalled completely Clam Sentinel and Clamwin older version, rebooted and cleaned register, installed the new version.

Uploading virus definition OK, scanning memory OK, opening menus OK.

Re-installed Clam sentinel and everything OK.

In short; back to normal.

I cannot get it to download updates. & I have tried your suggestions.(replacing libclamav.dll. )
& read back 6 months of others having troubles
any other suggestions?

& trying the download from the site , for daily.cvd just shows a very long screen of code , whcih never seems to stop flowing by on the web page,, whats up with that? isn't there a file to download?

- uninstall clamwin
- cleanup clamwin program file directory
- download and install latest version (0.96.2.1)
- try to update

if it does not work, your problem is different, please post the error from the report log

it is the newest version I just installed it yesterday.

there is no report log, as it just hangs there telling me its downloading.
have tried several times. & give up after about 30 minutes.

by pressing stop, you should able to save a partial report (perhaps unfortunately I doubt it will contain something interesting)

nawww all it says is cancelled..
& been running almost an hour

Just as others have mentioned, I also am a new user who just installed ClamWin v. 0.96.2.1 on an old Windows 98SE machine and who cannot get the program to download the virus database update. A window opens saying that it is downloading, but it just hangs there forever. If I stop it and generate an error report, it says:

The Clam daily signature database is up to 12194, so you are way behind! That shouldn't matter however--it should still update. They do seem to be having sdome problems though--they had to manually push through my sigs from last night.
