VirusTotal has a nice script to automate the process of submitting a file to them. It is a small script file, and after you install it, you can right click in Windows Explorer on a file on your computer and automate the submission process. After upload, you will be taken to the VirusTotal site where you can watch the scanning. The script is available at https://www.virustotal.com/ on the web. Click on the Email/uploader.
NoVirusesThanks is another online scanning service that has an upload program to help you submit files to them. Go to their page at https://www.novirusthanks.org/ on the web. Click on Products and then get the Uploader. This is not as smooth as the VirusTotal uploader. After downloading and installing it, you have to run the upload program and select the file on your computer you want to upload to them. Then you get to see the scanning process. What's good about this uploader is that it is also a system tool that knowledgeable users can employ to find out what's going on with their computer.
