I just can't get the updates to the definitions to download period.

I'm running Zone Alarm Internet Security Suite version 9.1.507.00

The really crazy part is I'm running both the same ZA and WinClam versions on my XP Home system with no problems whatsoever.

This Toshiba laptop is another matter. It has never updated the sigs and it's directly connected to my DSL modem. The XP Home system that has no problems is the one running off the wireless-N router.

The laptop is running Windows 7 32-Bit Premium.

This is very suspicious:
database.clamav.net (IP: 127.0.0.1)

Please check you c:\windows\system32\drivers\etc\hosts file for database.clamav.net entries - if you have those then it is likely that malware altered it in order to disable virus definitions updates and you need to scan your whole system. AVG bootable rescue cd (google the phrase) is a good tool in such cases.

I get some stuff like that at times--mostly on my wife's Windowsd 7 machine. I have always been able to update within 5 minutes or so, however. Here's a recent update that is typica--seems to be a problem on the Clam AV side--not ClamWinl:
