My very unofficial guess is that ClamWin will have some real-time functionality by the time version 1.0 comes out. The current version is 0.96.
In the meantime, you might look at the Clam Sentinel project, which uses ClamWin to scan as files are added to, modified, and copied to a hard drive for Win98, 2000, XP, Vista, and Win 7 computers. It thus covers a lot of the bases of a real-time scanner. It offers USB/removable dirve protection, uses the ClamWin quarantine, and it supports several languages. You need to have ClamWin installed before you can use Sentinel, and Sentinel configuration is very easy. The Clam Sentinel project is a separate project from ClamWin. The Sentinel site is at https://sourceforge.net/projects/clamsentinel/ on the web. Regards, |

I think I saw something about 1.0 supporting active scanning, that would be great! The problem with Sentinel is that it does not show any support for Windows Server, however, I also have not tested it, I think I will to see what happens, but official support would be the best case

Okay so I decided to give it a shot. I installed ClamWin and Sentinel on a Windows Server 2008 Web Server I'm using for some testing. It looks like it does indeed work on a Windows Server. I did however note that Clam Scan often eats up 50% of the CPU, so I'm not sure how viable this solution will be. I'm going to continue to test and see how much of a performance hit it actually is, but at least if nothing else it does appear to actually function.

The new ClamSentinel 1.13 supports multiusers. The performance hit would be smaller if ClamWin used clamd instead of clamscan. In addition, Clam's version 0.96 does scan a bit slower than version 0..95.

Sounds like the answer is to wait a bit longer for the ClamWin Scanner. A good start in the right direction, just not their yet.
