I recently ran a scan on a Win XP system.
Preferences were set to quarantine infected files. Consequently some files have been moved which now make it impossible for me to log on.
I want to move these files back to where they should be.
I am using a Ubuntu live disk to boot the computer so as to find and move these files. The problem is I can not find the directory ".clamwin", Anywhere!!
Ubuntu can see all other Win files, just not the .clamwin directory, which of course contain the "scan log" and "quarantine" directories.
I have tried searching another computer where I know where the .clamwin directory is, Ububtu cannot find it on this system either.
Can someone suggest a soluition to this problem?
Thanks and regards,
Harrance.

After reading the posts regarding the usreinit.exe problems elsewhere in this forum, I see this is the same problem I have had.
In the meantime I have copied this file from another system and pasted it into the problem computer (using Ubuntu live cd). This has solved the immediate problem and the device is now working fine.
However the original question remains. Why can Linux not find the ".clamwin" directory.

Could it be that Linux (or your version at least) is not set up to recognize "." as indicating a directory?

I think you are right Bob, linux is usually omitting file/folder names staring with . in GUI based file managers. Try "ls -la" in the "c:\documents and settings\all users\" folder
