I'm running ClamAV version 0.95.3, on Windows 98SE.
It used to work fine, up to a few weeks ago.

When I try to download the virus database update,
I get a bunch of error messages:

ClamAV update process started at Tue Mar 02 16:34:29 2010
ERROR: cdiff_apply: Incorrect digital signature
ERROR: getpatch: Can't apply patch
WARNING: Incremental update failed, trying to download main.cvd
ERROR: Verification: Can't verify database integrity
Trying again in 5 secs...
ClamAV update process started at Tue Mar 02 16:43:35 2010

After which it repeats the whole sequence over and over.

Grateful for any hints on how to fix ...

You might try deleting the main/daily signature database files in the ClamWin database directory and then do an update. To locate the database folder, right click on ClamWin icon in system tray, choose Configure, Open File Location tab, and look for Virus Database Folder. If doing this does not help you, I suggest you uninstall ClamWin and then reinstall it. Something could have become corrupt.

Thanks GuitarBob, tried your suggestion of deleting the daily signature database file, but it came up with the same problem.

The wording of the message suggests that the problem is with the file it has just downloaded, but that's just a guess.

I'll try downloading the whole database files manually, but it will have to wait until I can borrow a friend's broadband - it would take all day on dial-up!

Downloaded a new main.cvd as you suggested, and it all came right again.
