Hi People,
First can I just say its really good to hear that there is a open source antivirus out there being developed and supported by a community.
I have some basic questions and although I have looked on the internet I get some conflicting information, which I hope someone can clarify.
I want to use Clamwin on a Windows Server 2003, I have thunderbird and firefox installed.
What other malware / spyware programs are compatible with Clamwin?

Also what various plugins are helpful for Thunderbird and Firefox, such as ClamMail?

Lastly what plugins are recommend to provide as close as possible to real-time protection, eg Clam Sentinel?

I look forward to your answers people
Many Thanks in advance for your help.
Cheers

ClamWin works with just about any other AV/antimalware scanner because it does not scan in real-time. It scans on demand or on schedule. Once in a while you my have an AV kick in if a ClamWin temp working file happens to include a signature the other AV recognizes. It should be used as a backup scanner for the present. If (not recommended) ClamWin is your only AV, you should use a behavior blocker/IDS like ThreatFire, or even the little WinPatrol program, for extra protection.

ClamSentinel is not a kernel mode scanner, but it's about the only shot we have right now at a real-time scanner. The upcoming PE heuristics in Clam version .96 should work well with Sentinel once they are "dialed-in." Hopefully, there will be an official ClamWin real-time scanner at some point in the future.

Regards,
