The Office files are easy enough to rename and move; but 865ced.msp and 6c32b1.msp I don't know how to restore. The location in the original scan report does not show up in Windows explorer.

Can someone tell me how to get my Excel back up and running?

I would not worry about restoring .msp files - these files are cached Microsoft updates that have already been applied. These are saved in case you ever wanted to uninstall an update

that's what I thought as well however I still can't open excel. I can't run my original Office disk to repair it either, which is still frustrating.

I suppose I can uninstall and reload Office; if I do that do I need to backup my emails and calender with MS Outlook first?

Technically it is not required as reinstalling does not touch email files, but I would advise to back it up anyway.
