Clam AV prepares their own official signatures for Clam AV/ClamWin. They prepare them from files submitted by users. If you have submitted the file to Clam, they will get a signature out, and you can delete your own signature. When you submit a file, you can indicate on the submission form that you want to be notified when they prepare the sig. Sometimes there are many sigs on the report, so you may have to really look hard to find the sig. Alternatively, you can delete your own sig and then scan the infected file with ClamWin and see if it is recognized. If it is, then you can delete your personal sig, and lots of other users can benefit from your submission.
With many businesses dependent upon Clam, they have to be careful and make their own sigs. They are having trouble with their current release candidate (version 0.95 RC1) due to the "extended" sigs made by Sane Security and another outfit.
