Hello Sandy,

If you have alredy installed Clamwin run a scan of your machine and have a look at the results. By default Clamwin is set to only report the files which are found infected (scan will show the path of the infected files). To make a double check upload the files to https://www.virustotal.com/, a free service where suspect files are submitted to multiple scanning engines (about 30 current av's vendor are listed on the site). If many files are recognised as infected, you will have to first quarantine and finally remove them (this can be done setting Clamwin preferences to Quarantine; run another scan and infected fileswill be moved to Quarantine folder; you can then navigate to the folder and manually cancel its contents; all will be listed with 'infected.' prefix).

If system files are found to be infected it would be better to try to cure them before quarantine; a free good tool is CureIt from Dr. Web @ https://www.freedrweb.com/; download it on your desktop and launch it.

Be sure to make a backup copy of your important/personal files before totally removing infected system files; it may occurr you will not be able to access to system anymore or to access it partially through recovery mode.

To get rid of cookies and temporary internet files that get into your machine during surfing you may think to install free ccleaner @ https://www.ccleaner.com/. That's a good option to keep your PC in good shape.

Regards,
Antonio
