Anyone any idea how long ClamWin intend to support Windows 98 S.E from 2009 onwards?

My current AV program Avast will by the end of 2009 or possibly when Avast 5 is ready drop support for 98, and I am curious about ClamWin and their longer term view on this subject.

When installed does it have to be registered?

Also, do you really need to have the icon in the system tray? does removing this using the System Configuration Utility cause any problems? as the more you have sitting in that tray makes the computer have less resources.

It is an essential component that runs scheduled database updates and scans

That's no problem, I will wait until my current support runs out.

Has the updater been fixed re the error messages that people were receiving when using Windows 98?
