Is there a way to build using the cygwin suite (e.g., gcc, mingw32, etc.)?

you only need msvc free to build explorer plugin. With little effort you can convert it to MinGW gcc. The main GUI is in Python.

I've just downloaded the ClamWin source code from SVN, and want to build it, before looking at what changes I might wish to make.

I am looking to test/code/enhance the ClamWin service.

From the posts in this thread, I can use either MSVC Free, or MinGW. Is this actually correct?

All other things being equal, I would prefer to use the MinGW tools. Are there any recommendations regarding build environments?

Cheers!
Nik.

not any more, clamwin requires VS2005 to build. This is because we moved away from cygwin binaries to native win32 clamav code.

I believe you can get VC2005 Express free from Microsoft, you will also need PaltformSDK from Microsoft.

Thanks Mate,

I'll go back to the MS site and start downloading.

Guess I'll need to run up an MS OS in a virtual OS host as well. All this just to scan for viruses...

Cheers!
