I've been looking for an AV app that is only on-demand (eg through the context menu) with nothing in the background. ClamWin is almost that. I wish clamtray didn't run though. Then I would run the updater through Win Scheduled Tasks and also get other apps to call the scanner on-demand by using command line switches. I know I can disable clamtray and run freshclam with commands etc but it is a bit fiddly particularly as the freshclam configuration file is created on the fly. Wouldn't it be easier to manage all this through the app preferences? eg don't start with Windows, automatically create and edit a Windows scheduled task, and allow a simple "clamscan.exe %1" without the extra switches.
I can do all this manually, but I think this could be made a lot easier, without us having to create config files, batch files etc.
