I'm using Clam Win on my parents' computer. It's worked well for a year, but all of a sudden, I'm getting this message when I begin a scan: An error occurred: malformed database. No scanning takes place and there is no other information. Has this happened to anyone else? What can be done? Thanks. JP

No problems here.
What you can try is to delete the database files (they should be under C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\.clamwin\db or a similar location, you can find the exact path in the ClamWin Settings). Delete all files/folders except for mirrors.dat there and then update the database (it will download a new copy).

I googled and found this old thread. This is exactly my problem. I deleted what the above poster said to delete, tried to run ClamWin and it said I had to redo the database. Took 3 attempts before it downloaded. Then I tried to use my antivirus scan, and I got the exact same message: ERROR: Malformed database
Should I try to uninstall clamwin and reinstall it?
By the way, just this afternoon I downloaded the latest version of ClamWin.

Budtse's informaltion is correct. I have this problem once-in-a-while, and it works. Like he says, delete the database files again and keep the mirror information. If that doesn't work, you can try a complete uninstall and a new install just in case it will work.
Get back here if you can't fix it. What sort of computer (OS) are you running ClamWin on?
