Hmmm. My version of ClamWin 0.91.2 doesn't have a clamd.conf file in any directory that I can see. I understand that ClamWin uses the freshclam executable--not clamd. Are you running Windows or Linux? Clamwin is written for the Windows OS.

clamwin creates a conf file for freshclam on the fly and specifies it on the command line. Are you updating from ClamWin GUI or or command line?

For scanning, Clamwin uses clamscan, and Clam AV on Linux uses clamd. ClamWin uses freshclam to update. Can you manually update? You might get some help from the FAQ on manually downloading updates. This may be a problem unique to Clamwin on a ME machine--maybe you need to change the configuration file. At any rate, I'm sure a developer will drop by before long with a better answer.

Could you please run a manual database update from clamwin GUI. Then don't close clamwin window and open %temp%\clamwin1.log in notepad, it should have freshclam.exe command line. Please paste it here.

Hi Petesi,
Are you using the official (native English) ClamWin version or the localized version ?? I suspect you use the localized version because the logfile mentions the system locale, I don't think the official release does that.
If you use the localized version, please uninstall it and try the official version in stead. Localized version is still a bit unstable (in particular the latest version). Next version will have lots of fixes.
regards,
Peter

Sorry, I was wrong. I looked it up in the code and the official version does log the system locale, so you can ignore my post.

I am having some issues with occasionial Automatic Virus update Errors (see below), sometimes it works sometimes I have to manual update. So my question is... is there some thing I need to do to fix this? Is this a problem or is it a hic-up and don't worry? Like I am trying to say, it doesn't happen all the time and more times then not it does get the update without my help. Below is a copy of the error I get. Any advise would be welcomed.

There will occasionally be a problem with the Clam servers, and there isn't anything that needs to be done for that by the user. The problem is usually fixed on the Clam end in a short time. Here's what I do: I try the signature update once right after I have a problem. Then if I still have the problem, I will wait an hour or so before trying the update again. I can't recall a server update problem occuring after an hour's wait, but if it does, I would check the ClamWin forum to see if anyone else has a similar problem. If they don't, then I would make a post about it.
Since ClamWin is an on-demand file scanner at present, missing a couple of updates probably isn't too critical unless you were planning a major scan right after an update failed. If you set ClamWin to make hourly updates, you can just "set and forget," unless you see from your update logs that the problem has persisted for several hours. In that case, you might make a post/inquiry here in the ClamWin forum.
